This group has interviewed partner food resource groups to determine how these resources can be coordinated to prepare for an emergency situation. Such resources need to be identified and recognized by the South Whidbey community. Our focus is also to foster household food provisioning for an emergency and promote educational offerings and opportunities related to food growth, storage and preservation.
Our monthly meetings will be held consistently on the second Tuesday of the month from 4 pm to 5:30 pm. Meetings will be held at the Upper Langley Common House located at 11124 Al Anderson Avenue. Please park in the lower parking lot on the north side of the house. I think that a consistent meeting schedule and place will be beneficial.
The topics for the April meeting will be:
Synthesize what we have learned from our "partner group" presentations
Discussion of educational resources to be put on SWP website
Identification of community food-related educational opportunities to promote
Continued discussion of identification of and "mapping" commercial kitchens
Decide strategy to "map" our food producers and availability of CSA farms.
