Sourdough starter for baking was carried into rough territory by mining prospectors and early colonialists traveling into unknown land. In an emergency, it might be nice t have some starter for easy pancakes and bread. 

Check out this sourdough bread class on Tuesday, October 20, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Deer Lagoon Grange Hall. $20/family.

Remember,  the starter is a culture and you need to feed and care for it.
