GMRS/FRS Call-out Exercise
A second FRS/GMRS Call-out Exercise is being planned for Saturday, 9/19, at 10:00AM. The objective is to expand on the results of the previous exercise on 5/30 and try to connect GMRS operators with each other and with nearby ham radio operators. During an emergency, the ham radio operators could pass information from the neighborhood GMRS operators to the Department of Emergency Management and elsewhere.
It is currently envisioned that ham operators on South Whidbey will make “blind” calls at staggered times between 10:00 and about 11:00. GMRS operators should respond to any calls they hear and try to establish a connection. They should also make note of any other GMRS operators they hear clearly and submit that information to SWP at the close of the exercise.
To ensure you receive updated information (as well as information on other important radio-related matters) be sure to sign up at the SWP Radio Registry. A Zoom meeting will be held prior to the 9/19 exercise to discuss details of the exercise and to answer any questions.
Details of the exercise to follow. To stay informed on this and other radio-related issues, be sure to sign up at the SWP radio registry (scroll down on the page to find the form).
